Excel V is the most advanced aesthetic technology that combines two powerfully precise lasers to target and eliminate vascular concerns (redness, unsightly veins) and benign pigmented lesions (age spots, sun spots, discolouration) on the face and body.

A: excel V treats nearly twenty unique aesthetic and dermatologic skin concerns. The most common excel V treatments include rosacea, facial and leg veins, age/brown spots, and acne scars.

Your skin therapist will select one of excel V’s two lasers and customise the treatment settings to target the colour and depth of your skin concern.

Most treatments require only one to two treatment sessions. The number of treatments will vary based on your condition. Your skin therapist will discuss a customised treatment plan during your consultation.

Excel V treatments can feel similar to a rubber band snapping against skin. Depending on the procedure, a cooled treatment tip will be in contact with the skin to protect and provide comfort to the area.

Redness and/or swelling can be expected following treatment and will resolve within a few days. Treated brown spots will darken and slough off within 3 to 6 days. For full face treatments, swelling will peak 24 to 48 hours post treatment and usually resolves within a few days. Typically, you can wear make-up and return to normal activities immediately. Your provider may recommend a topical steroid to reduce swelling as needed.
Before your treatment:
Do not wear makeup on the day of treatment
No sun-tanning or self-tanners 4 weeks prior to treatment - includes spray tans, tanning lotions, tanning beds, sun exposure, etc.
Some medications or supplements may increase the risk of bruising. Consult with your skin therapist.
Avoid treatments that may irritate the skin for 1-2 weeks prior to treatment (eg waxing.)
Notify the clinic with any changes to your health history or medications since your last appointment
History of herpes or cold sores may require an anti-viral prescription prior to treatment
After your treatment:
Avoid sun exposure and use a broad spectrum (UVA/UVB) sunscreen to prevent further sun damage
Bruising, redness and swelling are common and resolve with time
Avoid heat – hot tubs, saunas, etc. for 1-2 days
Avoid skin irritants (examples below) a few days post-treatment - products containing tretinoin, retinol, benzoyl peroxide, glycolic/salicylic acids, astringents, etc.
Notify clinic of any concerns (blistering, excessive redness/swelling, etc.)
Consult with clinic about when to resume skin care regime.

Patients can expect to see a decrease in the appearance of unwanted pigment in the treated area. However, results develop gradually after several sessions, so patience will be required.

Typically, only a few treatments are needed. However, this is dependant on the condition of your skin and several other factors. Your skin therapist will work with you to determine how many laser treatments are required in your unique case.

Most patients will experience a sensation that’s similar to sunburn directly after their treatment and for a day or two thereafter. The treated area will also be pink or red in colour for up to eight hours. A cold compress can be used to alleviate any redness and swelling. Patients should avoid the application of makeup or creams for at least a day or until most of the redness and stinging has subsided. Your skin therapist will tell you what you need to know about possible side effects during your consultation. You will also receive specific aftercare instructions that will help you achieve the best results.

The wavelength of light being delivered is 1927nm – the same as Fraxel laser. If you have taken Roaccutane within the past 6 months, or are currently taking Roaccutane

Anti-wrinkle or dermal filler treatment within the past 2 weeks.
Conditions such as lupus, HIV, scleroderma and any condition or medication that affects the immune system.
Predisposition to keloid or hypertrophic scarring
